Washington, D.C. (May 4, 2010) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP Intellectual Property Counsel James H. Johnson, Jr. will testify Wednesday, May 5 at the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  The hearing will be held at 10:15 a.m. in room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building and is open to the public.

Mr. Johnson will speak on behalf of the Trademark Public Advisory Committee and discuss concerns and comments that it has about the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  In addition to providing oral testimony at the hearing, Mr. Johnson has submitted a written statement that will be included in the hearing record.

Mr. Johnson focuses his practice on procurement and enforcement of company trademarks and copyrights.  He counsels clients regarding selection and protection of such rights, routinely files oppositions and lawsuits to protect valuable intellectual property rights, and manages U.S. and international trademark and copyright portfolios.  Mr. Johnson also handles issues involving unfair competition and domain-name disputes.
