Sutherland was chosen from six law firm nominees in the tax category. Partner W. Mark Smith accepted the award on behalf of the firm during a June 7 awards banquet co-sponsored by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Lex Mundi.

The awards are based on research for the 2012 edition of Chambers USA, a leading global guide to the legal profession built upon research that includes attorney and client interviews. The nominations reflect a law firm’s preeminence in the practice area and notable achievements over the past 12 months. During the research process, Chambers analysts and editors evaluated outstanding work, notable strategic growth and client service among other factors in determining the winners.
