ATLANTA (Tuesday, January 31, 2012) – In recognition of their personal story of strength and survival, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP Partner Marc A. Rawls and his family have been named 2012 Ambassadors for the March of Dimes’ Metro Atlanta Chapter. As Ambassadors, Mr. Rawls and wife Christy will travel the city with their five-year-old daughter Layla Rain to raise awareness of premature birth and encourage participation in the nonprofit’s annual walk.
Mr. Rawls and his family were introduced as Ambassadors today at the 2012 March for Babies Kickoff Luncheon, held at the Hyatt Regency Downtown.
“At a time of great fear and concern for our daughter’s health, the March of Dimes provided us vital support and resources,” said Mr. Rawls. “We knew just 28 weeks into the pregnancy that our daughter Layla would be born premature. The guidance offered by the March of Dimes gave my wife and I the tools we needed to make educated decisions and navigate the emotional turmoil. As an attorney, I recognize the importance of strong advocacy, and I am absolutely honored to give back as a 2012 Ambassador.”
Mr. Rawls is a member of Sutherland’s Corporate Practice Group and concentrates in the areas of corporate and securities law, restructurings and strategic relationships. As an Ambassador for the March of Dimes, he intends to use his advocacy skills to promote the annual walk and advance its worthwhile cause: stronger, healthier babies.
