Atlanta (March 5, 2010) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announces its Partner and Georgia State Sen. David I. Adelman has been recognized as the “2010 Champion for Change” by the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence. As a non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence, Women’s Resource Center each year chooses to recognize members of the Atlanta community who work to advance that mission. Adelman was honored at a luncheon at the Georgia Aquarium on March 4.
“I congratulate David on this honor,” said Sutherland’s Pro Bono and Community Service Chair Judith A. O’Brien. “David is dedicated to ending domestic violence, and we celebrate his work.”
Adelman has represented Georgia’s largest domestic violence organizations on a pro bono basis during his career at Sutherland and is a longtime member of the Board at the Women’s Resource Center. As a legislator he authored and passed Georgia’s landmark Family Violence Shelter Confidentiality Act, which protects from disclosure the location of safe houses.
