Building and implementing a “culture of compliance” is no longer just a smart move for compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s rules, regulations and policies. It is now apparent that NERC and its regional entities with front-line responsibility for enforcing the mandatory Reliability Standards also expect regulated entities to develop a culture of compliance. A regulated entity’s compliance program will be a key consideration in NERC audits and investigations – and could affect the level of monetary penalties should violations be uncovered.
