Michele Borens, a member of Sutherland’s Tax Practice Group, has experience assisting clients with a multitude of state and local tax issues and working extensively in all areas of multi-state tax planning, research, controversy and tax matters, with particular emphasis on corporate and franchise tax issues. Michele focuses on state tax planning, including multi-state strategies, state-specific tax reductions, transactional planning and reverse income tax reviews.
Before joining the firm, Michele was a manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, in the State and Local Tax services group, where she worked for more than five years. Her practice included advising clients on state and local tax issues associated with corporate reorganization and restructuring, negotiating and securing state credits and incentives, as well as state tax refund and planning opportunities. Her clients served numerous industries including construction, biotechnology, government contracting, health care, law and hospitality.
Michele is a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland and Virginia.
