Margaret Barker is a member of Sutherland’s Tax Practice Group. She focuses her practice on employee benefits and executive compensation. She has experience assisting in the design and administration of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans and welfare plans, including defined benefit plans, 401(k) plans, ESOPs, stock option plans, multiemployer plans and cafeteria plans.
Margaret has also advised clients regarding compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code, including issues related to section 409A, COBRA, HIPAA, securities laws and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Following law school, Margaret served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eugene E. Siler, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
