REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE Laurance’s recent representative trial and appellate experience includes:
- Serving as co-counsel representing a Big Four accounting firm and an individual defendant in a complex case involving claims of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and Georgia RICO violations. After a four-week jury trial, the clients obtained a favorable verdict on their claims.
- Serving as co-counsel representing a national law firm in an arbitration involving a claim of breach of contract. After a week-long arbitration, the clients received a favorable verdict recovering fees owed by a former client.
- Serving as lead counsel representing a landlord in a large bankruptcy proceeding. Following two two-day trials, the clients obtained two favorable rulings from the bankruptcy court leading to a large favorable settlement.
- Serving as co-counsel representing the unsecured creditors committee in one of the largest bankruptcy cases ever filed in the Northern District of Georgia.
- Representing a Big Four accounting firm in a securities fraud case, and assisting in successfully briefing a motion to dismiss that prevailed in federal district court and that was subsequently affirmed in the Eleventh Circuit.
- Representing several Big Four accounting firms in complex cases that obtained favorable settlements in advance of trial.
