Knox Dobbins has been a banking and finance lawyer for more than 30 years, focusing on consumer financial services as well as corporate finance. He has advised banks, nonbank lenders and national retail chains in administering credit programs and has helped these clients confront successive new disclosure, fee and interest, privacy, and credit access regimes.

Effective compliance efforts are dependent upon regulatory relationships. Over the years, Knox has developed contacts with legacy bank regulators, state credit offices, and those insurance commissioners with jurisdiction over installment lending. In recent speaking engagements, Knox has assumed a leadership role among regulators in presenting to conferences: last October, at the American Conference Institute, he moderated a panel of regulators from New York, the District of Columbia, Oklahoma, Nebraska and New Mexico on the subject of state law developments after Dodd-Frank. In February, Knox will moderate a panel on fair lending that will include the Georgia Deputy Commissioner for Banking who has responsibility for consumer matters statewide.

Knox has written extensively for many years in his practice areas. Of particular note is the decision by North Law last year to publish the guide he co-authored on The Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010.
