George Cohen is a member of Sutherland’s Corporate Practice Group and focuses primarily in the area of corporate and securities law. He has extensive experience in advising publicly held corporations concerning mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and other matters.

George served as chair of the State Bar of Georgia’s Section of Corporate and Banking Law in 1968 and 1969. He was a member of the section’s committee that prepared the Georgia Business Corporation Code enacted in 1969 and was chair of the section’s committee that prepared the Revised Georgia Business Corporation Code enacted in 1989. From 1983 through 1989, George was a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section’s Corporate Laws Committee that prepared the Revised Model Business Corporation Act. From 1981 through 1992, he served as an adviser on the American Law Institute’s project, “Principles of Corporate Governance: Analysis and Recommendations.”

Prior to attending law school, George served as a lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force.
