David is a partner in the Real Estate Group. He serves as co-chair of the firm’s Retail Practice Group and is head of the firm’s Northeast Real Estate Practice. David brings more than 25 years of experience to his practice, which focuses on representing clients in connection with commercial real estate transactions (retail, office, industrial and mixed-use) that involve properties located throughout the country, including acquisitions and dispositions (one-off and portfolio transactions), commercial development, leasing and finance.
David has extensive experience in the area of retail law, including the acquisition, sale and leasing of retail and mixed-use properties, condominium developments (retail and mixed-use), acquiring and selling real estate assets (fee estates and leasehold interests in retail properties) in connection with bankruptcy proceedings and counseling clients on lease issues (such as exclusives, radius restrictions, assignment/subletting and “going-dark”) in anticipation of and during a lease dispute. His retail clients include some of the largest national “big box” retailers and shopping center developers.
David has been named a “Leading Real Estate Lawyer” by Chambers USA, one of The Best Lawyers in America, a New York Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine and a New Jersey Super Lawyer by New Jersey Monthly. He also has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. David is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and its U.S. Law Conference Program Committee, the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law of the American Bar Association and the Real Estate Board of New York. He is also a frequent speaker on Real Estate topics.
