Cheryl Aaron is a member of Sutherland’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group, counseling clients on investment and trading in commodity derivatives, and compliance with laws such as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the Commodity Exchange Act. She advises energy companies, commercial firms, commodity trading houses, as well as financial entities on a variety of derivatives and other transactions.

Prior to joining Sutherland and while completing her LL.M. degree at Georgetown University Law Center, Cheryl was an extern at the Securities and Exchange Commission and a legal intern at the Investment Adviser Association. She also worked in government relations at a Washington, D.C. firm and served as a law clerk for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Before moving to Washington, D.C., Cheryl was an associate in the structured finance group of an international law firm in New York.
