Stephanie Kinzel-Tapper is an experienced litigator with a focus on complex commercial and energy disputes. She represents a diverse set of energy clients, including upstream, midstream and downstream participants, with a primary focus on upstream and midstream operators. Her commercial clients include commercial tenants, joint venture partners and healthcare facilities. Stephanie has litigated cases in numerous state and federal courts.
Stephanie recently served as lead counsel defending a national pipeline company and terminal operator in litigation arising from a propane release that severely burned and permanently injured a third-party truck driver. The case involved claims of premises liability, industry standards, potential OSHA violations, negligence, and gross negligence. Stephanie secured indemnity and defense for the clients and settled all claims prior to trial. Stephanie also recently served on a team representing a skilled nursing facility in proceedings against a physician. In that matter, Stephanie successfully cross-examined the physician before the administrative panel, resulting in a key admission in the proceeding.
Before joining Sutherland, Stephanie was an associate with an international law firm in Houston where she focused on energy and commercial litigation. Stephanie also interned for the Honorable Sara Vance of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
