Sidney Simms practices commercial finance and private capital law, counseling lenders and borrowers to reach their acquisition goals. A member of Sutherland’s Corporate Practice Group, Sidney represents commercial and investment banks in creating and administering senior and subordinate credit loans, term loans, revolving credit and syndicated term facilities. His clients are involved in various industries, including telecommunications, timberlands, energy, retail and restaurants. One of Sidney’s many deals includes representing the administrative agent in a $148 million syndicated term and revolving credit facility secured by a timberland company. He also is active in pro bono matters.
Before joining Sutherland, Sidney served as an associate for an Atlanta law firm where he represented mortgage servicers in post-securitization commercial real estate financing matters, including loan assumptions, defeasances and various workout strategies for defaulted mortgage loans, such as foreclosures, loan restructuring and modifications, note sales and receiverships.
