Michael Gurion assists businesses with their critical transactions, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, as well as the structuring and negotiation of licensing arrangements and other strategic partnerships. He also advises private equity and venture capital funds with respect to fund formation, investments, acquisitions and exit transactions, and provides general corporate guidance. He has had significant representations for technology and new media clients, as well as manufacturing, distribution, natural resources and financial services companies.
In his legal practice, Michael leverages his previous experience in the financial services and technology sectors. Before joining Sutherland, he was an investment banking analyst at Merrill Lynch, first with the Mergers & Acquisitions team, and later as part of the Strategic Advisory Group which had responsibility for directing the bank’s own M&A strategy. He later served as Director of Business Development for Law.com, a digital media and software company focusing on the legal market, where he negotiated several corporate acquisitions, structured multiple licensing and strategic partnerships for different business units, oversaw the development of new online product offerings, and marketed ancillary products for The Recorder, American Lawyer Media’s daily California newspaper.
