Maria Rivera-Diaz counsels clients on venture capital investments, fund formations, capital raising, and mergers and acquisitions. Her work also includes general corporate representation and advice.

Before joining Sutherland as an associate, Maria participated in the 2014 Summer Associate program, where she assisted with corporate and litigation matters. Prior to that, Maria was a law school teaching assistant for contracts and sales. She also worked as a legal extern in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, where she assisted with transactional and litigation matters.

During her third year of law school, Maria participated in the University of Georgia’s Appellate Litigation Program, where she helped draft a brief for habeas corpus relief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and participated in oral argument for that matter.
