With more than 20 years of experience on a wide range of U.S. and cross-border transactions, Madeleine Tan advises U.S. and foreign equity investors, lenders and sponsors on the development, financing, sale and acquisition of power generation projects, including alternative and renewable energy projects such as wind and solar projects. She also has significant experience representing major energy and infrastructure clients in making equity investments in portfolios of power generation assets.
Madeleine regularly advises on the acquisition and financing of a variety of assets, including:
Gas collection and distribution systems
Gas-fired cogeneration facilities
Waste disposal facilities
Freshwater treatment facilities
Airport security systems
Aircraft, railcars and rail infrastructure
Madeleine joins Sutherland from an international law firm, where she was head of the project development and finance practice. Her finance background includes capital markets debt offerings; equity raisings; leveraged leases; and asset-backed, tax-equity and structured finance transactions.
Her previous experience also includes serving as U.S. general counsel to one of the largest wind project development companies in Brazil.
