John McCaskill advises clients on international trade matters including commodity trading and shipping. John’s clients across a variety of commodity markets range from the largest global players to small specialist houses (including state, publicly and privately owned companies). In the shipping market, he represents ship owners, charterers and cargo interests, as well as major P&I and defense clubs.

John advises clients on issues including:

  • Commodity sales and storage (bulk and liquid)
  • Charterparties  (time and voyage)
  • Bills of lading
  • Contracts of affreightment
  • Piracy
  • P&I Club rules
  • General Average

He has extensive experience in all stages and forms of dispute resolution including High Court proceedings, international arbitration (London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and various trade arbitrations) and mediation.
