Ian Wasser manages portions of patent portfolios for individuals and companies in their varied invention endeavors. Ian practices on all stages of patent prosecution, including both domestic and foreign patent applications. Additionally, Ian prepares invalidity and clearance opinions, provides litigation support for complex technical disputes and evaluates solutions for designing around patents. His clients operate in a range of industries, such as materials and coatings, plastics, turbines, diapers and diaper manufacturing, medical devices and chemical technologies. Ian also works on legal issues related to copyrights, internet domain names and trademarks.
Before joining Sutherland as an associate, he participated in the firm’s 2008 Summer Associate Program. During law school, Ian was a judicial intern for U.S. Magistrate Judge Frances H. Stacy of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas. Ian also spent time as a Patent engineer while in law school.
