Dodie C.

With more than 20 years of experience as corporate counsel in the financial services industry, Dodie Kent advises on product design, marketing and administrative issues as they relate to variable and fixed life insurance and annuity products. She also has particular experience counseling on related regulatory compliance and enforcement issues. Dodie focuses on many novel and complex insurer initiatives, including the de-risking of legacy product offerings; the design and regulation of index-linked investments; issues related to the use of volatility management; and the simplification of variable annuity disclosure.

Dodie's in-depth knowledge of these topics—particularly variable life and annuity insurance regulations and issues—makes her a sought-after speaker at industry conferences. Her years as corporate counsel provide her with a practical, results-oriented understanding of insurance companies’ internal processes and competing business inputs related to product development, distribution and administration.
Dodie joined Sutherland from one of the world’s leading insurance and asset management groups, where she served as Vice President, Lead Director and Associate General Counsel in the Insurance Practice Group of its U.S. holdings. There, she served as the company’s principal legal securities advisor regarding its variable and fixed life and annuity product lines.
