Blair Paige Scott counsels energy clients on trading commodity derivatives, enforcement matters and compliance with regulations issued by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). She provides interpretation and guidance for rules promulgated under Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Act, including subjects pertaining to entity classification, the definition of swap, margin requirements, trade documentation, market manipulation and disruptive trading. As a registered lobbyist, Blair lobbies Congress on matters regarding the reauthorization of the CFTC.
Blair also advises on matters involving exports of crude oil and petroleum products, the Jones Act and environmental matters arising from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program.
Prior to joining Sutherland as an associate, Blair served as the firm’s Commodities Regulatory Analyst. Her past experience also includes working as a Legislative Assistant for a congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives.
