ATLANTA and WASHINGTON (August 9, 2012) – Efforts to further diversify its workplace are starting to pay off for Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP. In a survey recently released by Vault, Sutherland now ranks 14th in the country for overall diversity among law firms, which is up nine spots from last year’s ranking at 23.
“Talent in our profession, and in the world in which we live and practice law, is not confined to persons of a particular gender, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation," said James L. Henderson III, Sutherland’s chief diversity officer. “We recognize that to attract and retain attorneys of the highest caliber, it is imperative that we build an inclusive environment. It is rewarding to see our efforts acknowledged by Vault."
A national media company focused on career-related publications and resources, Vault annually surveys law firms and then ranks the best firms based on how well they perform in three individual diversity categories.
This year, Sutherland moved up in all three categories:
Diversity for Women Not Ranked 21
LGBT Diversity Not Ranked 17
Diversity for Minorities 19 13
