ATLANTA (June 17, 2003) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan is pleased to announce that Peter G. Pappas was elected First Vice President and President-Elect of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta by the Club's membership on May 21, 2003.
Mr. Pappas will become the Club's 85th President in June 2004 and will serve a one-year term. As the seventh Sutherland lawyer to serve as President, Mr. Pappas will follow Elbert P. Tuttle, Madison Richardson, Randolph W. Thrower, James H. Wilson. Jr., Thomas A. Lamar and Charles T. Lester, Jr.
Mr. Pappas is an active member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, the Licensing Executives Society and the local chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is also Treasurer of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the largest international Greek-American association.
Mr. Pappas focuses his practice in chemical patent prosecution, but also handles mechanical patent prosecution, federal trademark prosecution, intellectual property transactions, validity and infringement opinions, and litigation support. Mr. Pappas earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alabama and his J.D. at the University of Alabama School of Law.
The Lawyers Club of Atlanta was founded in 1922 by a small coalition of lawyers determined to improve the ethical standards of the legal profession in the community.
