Sutherland's Custom Legal Project Management Program Named "Best in Show" by LMA Your Honor Awards

March 15, 2012

ATLANTA and WASHINGTON (March 15, 2012) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP received first place in the “Practice Development" category and overall “Best in Show" in the 2012 LMA Your Honor Awards for the Sutherland Legal Project Management program. The awards, sponsored by the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), recognize the best in legal marketing by identifying projects that advance the field in an innovative manner, plus provide a return on a firm’s marketing investment.

Sutherland Legal Project Management was selected “Best in Show" from all entrants across 18 award categories, with the judges noting that "Two years from now everyone will be talking about this. It’s a breakthrough in legal project management."

Sutherland’s goal was to create a program that resonated with clients and attorneys by providing easy-to-use tools that enhance client service, create efficiencies and add value. Sutherland developed and implemented simple processes and systems that matched client needs and how attorneys currently work, which varies widely by practice area and client.

“Winning the LMA Your Honor Award is a testament to our approach of developing a custom Legal Project Management program that is practical and relevant for our clients and our attorneys," said Managing Partner Mark D. Wasserman. “We heard our clients asking for ideas on how to improve processes and add value, and we responded with a forward-thinking solution that will help our clients better manage their transactions, litigation and regulatory projects."

“At this point, more than half of the firm’s attorneys have been trained in Legal Project Management, representing each of the firm’s practice groups," said Sutherland Chief Client Service Officer Felice C. Wagner. “We are excited about the continued expansion of the program to more of our clients and attorneys."

Members of the Sutherland Legal Project Management development team include: Ms. Wagner; Sheri L. Palomaki, director of practice management; Monica F. Ulzheimer, business development manager – intellectual property; Kelly Williams Rike, senior director of client & practice development; Jennifer D. Parker, director of projects and user services; Andrea N. Varin, project manager; Bob D. Dolinsky, chief information officer; and Stephen R. DiGennaro, marketing technology manager.
