ATLANTA (August 31, 2011) – An alternative commute program offered by Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, was recently named “Best Overall Program: Medium Business" by Atlanta’s Clean Air Campaign, in partnership with the Atlanta region’s transportation management associations, RideSmart, and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The firm received recognition at the annual PACE Awards ceremony held by the Clean Air Campaign last week. Sutherland’s program was recognized for not only helping to solve the region’s air quality problems but for also enhancing employee quality of life.
“Our program, which we established more than a decade ago, encourages our employees to consider different commuting alternatives such as a carpool, vanpool, transit, telework, a compressed workweek and walking/biking," said Mark D. Wasserman, Sutherland’s Managing Partner. “As a result, 29 percent of our employee’s trips to work are considered a clean commute."
Sutherland’s program provides employees with viable alternatives to the basic work schedule and drive-alone commute, along with money-saving incentives to take advantage of transportation alternatives.
THE CLEAN AIR CAMPAIGN
The Clean Air Campaign is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1996 to motivate Georgians to take action to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion. They focus on both congestion and air quality. Annually, the campaign recognizes innovation, education and leadership with PACE Awards.
