NEW YORK (March 17, 2009) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, a member of The New York Public Library's Lawyers for the Library Program, is pleased to sponsor the “LIVE from the NYPL" event featuring Thomas Friedman in conversation with Nandan Nilekani, author of Imagining India, at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 23. Nilekani’s book traces the central ideas that shaped India’s past and present and asks the key question of the future of India and its role as a global citizen and emerging economic giant. The program will be held at the Library's Humanities and Social Sciences Library at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

Nandan Nilekani is the co-chairman of Infosys Technologies Limited. He is the recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Joseph Schumpeter prize for innovative services in economy, economic sciences and politics. Nilekani was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time in 2006 and was named Forbes “Businessman of the Year" for Asia in 2007. Nilekani received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India.
Thomas Friedman, author and journalist, is a three-time Pulitzer Prize winner. His “Foreign Affairs" column appears every Wednesday and Sunday in The New York Times. Friedman is the author of From Beirut to Jerusalem, The Lexus and the Olive Tree: Understanding Globalization, Longitudes and Attitudes: Exploring the World After September 11, and most recently, The World Is Flat. Friedman was named one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report.
