ATLANTA (January 16, 2001) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that Herbert J. Short, Jr. has been named to the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Mr. Short was chosen as a member of the Georgia Chamber Board upon the recommendation of several Atlanta business and political leaders.
U.S. Congressman Lindsay Thomas, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber, said, "Herbert is an outstanding leader in the Georgia business community, and we are excited to have him representing Atlanta on our Board of Directors."
Mr. Short focuses his practice on securities law and mergers and acquisitions, with an emphasis on the electric utility industry. He has also handled numerous financing transactions, including publicly-issued bond offerings, leveraged leasing, pollution control bond offerings, revolving lines of credit, government-guaranteed financing and commercial paper. Mr. Short is a summa cum laude and First Honor Graduate of the University of Georgia. He went on to earn his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law.
The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is recognized as one of the top state chambers of commerce in the United States and has a membership of over 3,300 – a 95 percent increase in the last four years.
