Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2010) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announces it has launched RegulatoryReformTaskForce.com, an online resource center providing roadmaps of key provisions and regulatory rulemakings, title summaries, articles, legal alerts, and events regarding the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
On July 21, 2010, President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The legislation is set to impact a broad range of companies, including not only financial institution intermediaries such as banks and broker-dealers, but also insurers, investment advisers, derivatives end-users, and public companies generally.
"The Dodd-Frank Act is more than 2,300 pages long and impacts diverse business sectors, including a broad cross-section of our clients," said Sutherland's Managing Partner Mark D. Wasserman. "Due to its complexity, we developed this online resource center to help our clients and their peers understand when and how they will be impacted."
"The Dodd-Frank Act has created layers of regulatory risk," said Task Force Member and Corporate Partner James M. Cain, who advises companies regarding securities, commodities, banking, insurance, and derivatives law. "Those impacted should carefully assess and adapt their business models and operations now, in anticipation of the likely impact of the final regulations. They should monitor the rulemaking process as an early risk-management and planning tool for dealing with the potential effects of the new law."
Sutherland's Regulatory Reform Task Force, which founded the resource center, is made up of a diverse group of attorneys with experience in banking, securities, insurance, energy regulation, and regulatory enforcement law.
