HOUSTON (November 4, 2002) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan said today that W. Eric Dennison has joined its national Energy Practice, establishing the firm's direct presence in Houston. Mr. Dennison, who is Counsel to the firm, most recently was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Dynegy Marketing and Trade.
At Dynegy, Mr. Dennison had general responsibility for the legal support of the company's gas, power and derivatives trading organization. He served as lead attorney for Dynegy's structured energy trading and origination business. Mr. Dennison has negotiated numerous energy-related agreements including project finance agreements, generating turbine purchase agreements, short/long term fuel sales/supply agreements, asset purchase agreements, and O&M agreements. He also has practiced before the Texas Public Utility Commission and FERC in connection with issues relating to transmission pricing, qualification of generating facilities under PURPA, obtaining approval for generating facilities to operate as exempt wholesale generators and electric retail pilot programs.

Mr. Dennison received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Tennessee in 1989. He spent three years as an Associate at Vinson & Elkins, one year at Hutcheson & Grundy, and four years with Destec Energy before signing on with Dynegy in 1997. Mr. Dennison was honored with Dynegy's Chairman's Award for Professional Excellence in 2000.
