WASHINGTON (January 18, 2013) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce the promotion of Elisabeth M. Bentzinger to partner and the addition of Lorna J. MacLeod as counsel, both within the firm’s Insurance Transactions and Products Team.

Roth, partner and Insurance Transactions and Products Practice group co-leader. “Elisabeth and Lorna each bring unique perspectives and have well-established reputations in the industry."
Ms. Bentzinger was promoted to partner effective January 1, 2013. She assists insurance companies and other financial services clients with the design and implementation of a variety of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered and unregistered investment products, including variable and fixed annuity and life insurance products; status issues related to and exemptive relief from the Investment Company Act of 1940; registration, compliance, reporting and disclosure requirements under the Securities Act of 1933; and periodic reporting under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
Ms. MacLeod recently joined the firm as counsel. She previously served as a branch chief in the SEC’s Office of Insurance Products in the Division of Investment Management. She advises clients on the design and offering of SEC registered and unregistered investment products, and compliance with related SEC and FINRA rules. She also has experience advising managers of private funds on registration and compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. She also advises a wide variety of business organizations on status questions under the Investment Company Act of 1940.
