Sutherland Continues to Expand Intellectual Property Practice with Addition of New Partner and Associate

ATLANTA (July 30, 2002) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announces the addition of Jeffrey J. Toney and Elizabeth Cary Miller to its Intellectual Property Practice in Atlanta.  Mr. Toney, who joins the firm as a Partner from the Atlanta office of Kilpatrick Stockton, is the second partner to join Sutherland's Intellectual Property Practice in the past two months. 

Mr. Toney concentrates his practice on patent infringement, trade secret litigation and international arbitration.  Before practicing law, Mr. Toney worked as a research biochemist on projects financed by the MesoAmerican Institute, where he developed assays to measure protein synthesis and uptake and published various papers on that subject.

Mr. Toney is registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization.  He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University School of Law and his B.S. in Biological Chemistry from Tulane University.  

Cary Miller, formerly a technical advisor for Sutherland's Intellectual Property Practice, has become an associate with the firm.  Dr. Miller concentrates her practice on patent prosecution in the biotechnology area.  She earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and her B.Sc.H. in Life Science from Queens University in Kingston, Canada.
