ATLANTA (May 2, 2001) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that James B. Jordan was recently elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) at the group's annual meeting in Williamsburg, VA. Jim joins H. Edward Hales, Jr. and William R. (Pat) Patterson as the third Sutherland attorney elected to the ACREL. Pat Patterson served the ACREL's Governing Board from 1987 to 1990, and for three years a as member of the Membership Selection Committee.
Approximately 850 lawyers make up the membership of ACREL, which is by invitation only. Members are nominated and elected based on their outstanding professional reputation and demonstrated ability in the field of real estate law. In addition, membership is based on at least ten years of substantial experience in real estate law and substantial contributions to the improvement of real estate law and practice, as well as by creating a more informed bar and public in these matters through writing, teaching, bar or legislative activities or other public service.
Jim serves as chair of Sutherland's Retail Practice Group and devotes a substantial portion of his time to retail development and leasing matters. He has experience and expertise in representing developers and retailers as to the entire gamut of retail product types ranging from freestanding facilities to neighborhood and power center developments to enclosed regional malls. Jim also regularly represents landlords and tenants in office and industrial development matters and leasing transactions, with a particular emphasis on the development and leasing of telecommunication facilities.
