ATLANTA (September 4, 2001) – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that Robert D. Terry has joined the firm's Securities Enforcement, Regulation and Advisory Group as counsel. He will use his considerable experience in securities regulation to represent financial services clients in regulatory and enforcement matters.
Mr. Terry is the former Director of the Georgia Securities Division, the division of the Office of Secretary of State that enforces the Georgia Securities and Commodities Acts, the Georgia Charitable Solicitations Act and the Georgia Cemetery and Funeral Services Act. Prior to joining the Georgia Securities Division, Mr. Terry was in private law practice in Atlanta, where he concentrated his practice in commercial litigation. He has also served as in-house counsel for a broker-dealer and as issuer's counsel for private placement offerings.
Mr. Terry earned his law degree in 1979 from the University of Virginia. In addition, he holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the University of Georgia. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), a member of the NASAA Enforcement Committee and on several other NASAA committees, including, as Chairman of the Online Trading Committee. While with the Secretary of State, Mr. Terry is also active in the National Organization of State Charities Officials.
