In Memoriam - Don E. Wood

October 31, 1949 – June 6, 2011

Don E. Wood, a partner in Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP’s Corporate Practice Group in Houston, passed away June 6, 2011. Prior to joining Sutherland in 2006, Mr. Wood had a 24-year affiliation with the law firm Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP (now Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP).

Mr. Wood represented community, regional, national and international financial services institutions in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, product development, and regulatory applications. Well-respected in this field, he was honored as a top five banking attorney in Texas by Texas Lawyer magazine.

A significant contributor to the Houston community, Mr. Wood was an active board member for the City of Houston Small Business Development Corporation and the Houston-Harris County Immunization Registry. He also served the greater legal community in leadership roles with the Texas Association of Bank Counsel, Texas Bankers Association, and the University of Houston Law Review Association.

Mr. Wood received his J.D. in 1982 from the University of Houston Law Center with honors and his B.S. in 1972 from Stephen F. Austin State University.
