Gencorp struck a deal in July 2012 to acquire Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne from UTC for about $550 million, which would have doubled Gencorp in size. The FTC opened an antitrust investigation, as the two companies are the only two major players in LDACS. After 11 months, they closed the investigation, and approved the merger.

This article notes that Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP represented Gencorp on antitrust matters throughout the transaction.
