Recently Gov. Ted Kulongoski's (D-Ore.) office submitted comments to FERC and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) regarding NMFS’ analysis of the environmental effects of LNG vessels delivering cargos to the planned Bradwood Landing LNG regasification facility. Specifically, the Governor’s natural resources policy director states that, in light of the U.S. Coast Guard’s concerns regarding the external ballast intake screens proposed by Bradwood Landing LNG, NMFS’ Biological Opinion of the project should consider the impact on Columbia River fisheries of the LNG vessels’ unscreened ballast and cooling water withdrawals. The comments are available in the FERC eLibrary under Docket No. CP06-365.
