Despite opposition from the U.S. National Parks Service, the Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) has agreed to delay hearings on the proposed Calais LNG regasification project. The hearings were originally planned to begin next week, but the Press Herald (Portland, Maine) reports that no new hearing date has been set. A BEP official notes that the BEP has incurred significant costs in time and resources due to the delay.

Separately, the Bangor Daily News carries an op-ed penned by a number of Maine's state representatives supporting the Calais LNG proposal.
