KBR Settles Charges of Bribery Related to Construction Contracts for Bonny Island LNG Terminal

Last week the U.S. Government and U.S. engineering firm Kellogg Brown & Root LLC (“KBR LLC”), a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR, Inc., agreed to settle pending charges that KBR LLC violated the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by bribing Nigerian officials to award construction contracts for the Bonny Island LNG liquefaction terminal to KBR LLC. Court documents indicate that KBR LLC has agreed to settle the charges for $402 million to be paid in quarterly installments through October 1, 2010. Filings in the case are available under Docket No. H-09-071 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division.
