FERC staff released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Downeast LNG import project on May 15. FERC staff concludes that “construction and operation of the Downeast LNG Project would result in some adverse environmental impacts,” but goes on to note that “most of these impacts would be reduced to less-than-significant levels with the implementation of Downeast’s proposed mitigation measures and the additional measures we recommend in the EIS.” Staff’s recommendations include more than 90 conditions the developer will have to meet in order to site, construct and operate the facility. Find the full report in the FERC eLibrary under Docket No. CP07-52.
