The Fall River Herald News (Mass.) reports that the U.S. House of Representatives voted against a measure proposed by U.S. Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas) that would have required any bridge on the U.S. highway system determined to be structurally deficient and recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as an impediment to navigation to be removed once a replacement bridge has been constructed. According to Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), this measure would have only affected one bridge in the nation: the Brightman Street Bridge in Massachusetts that affected the proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG project.
