Newsday reports today that a consultant for Long Island Power Authority submitted an Aug. 3 “executive briefing” that found that it should be possible to build and operate Broadwater Energy’s proposed LNG terminal with minimal adverse impacts to public safety and the environment. The briefing is a precursor to a final report by Boston-based Levitan & Associates, Inc., but LIPA president and chief executive Richard Kessel cautioned against “draw[ing] any conclusions from this draft presentation, which omits significant information and findings that will be contained in our final report.” Kessel expects the report will be made public later this month.
