The Maryland House of Delegates passed a measure that prohibits the construction of new LNG or petroleum facilities in environmentally sensitive coastal areas. In order to become law, the bill must also receive the state Senate’s approval before the General Assembly adjourns on April 9. The state bill is substantially similar to a Baltimore County ordinance that AES, the developer of the proposed Sparrows Point LNG terminal in Dundalk, Md., is challenging in federal court.
