A report entitled “Evaluating Natural Gas Import Options for the State of Hawaii,” produced for the Hawaii Energy Policy Forum, found that declining costs in the LNG value chain may make LNG imports a viable alternative to oil-based power generation in the state. The report concludes that an LNG facility could displace 20% of the state’s oil consumption within seven years. Pacific Business News (Honolulu) provides further details.
