At the first in a series of hearings hosted by the Maine Board of Environmental Protection, Downeast LNG officials, town representatives, and local residents offered their views on the Downeast LNG terminal proposed for Passamaquoddy Bay. A local harbor pilot told those in attendance that “there will be no unreasonable impact on the current navigational, recreational, fishing, commercial use, marine mammals or aquaculture along the LNG ship route.” Also, company officials agreed to limit the annual number of LNG shipments to 52, saying that it is unlikely that even that many cargos would be delivered to the facility. The Bangor Daily News provides further coverage.
