The Bangor Daily News reports that Robbinston, Maine residents yesterday voted 227 to 83 to approve a referendum that would allow the Downeast LNG project to go forward. Downeast had attended community forums, advertised on radio and in newspaper, and offered to pay for fire equipment, security measures, and a new school. The company will now forge ahead with environmental permits and the FERC approval process. “If they do accept it, FERC would sponsor meetings in February,” Dean Girdis, the company’s president, said.
