The Atlantic Sea Island Group held a press conference in Long Beach, New York yesterday announcing a proposed LNG regasification terminal 13.5 miles south of Long Island. The Group declined to disclose who the investors in the project are. The proposed facility would be built on a 50-60 acre man-made island, would be capable of receiving between 200 and 220 vessels per year and would have four storage tanks with capacity of 16 Bcf. Despite efforts to distance the new proposal from the beleaguered Broadwater terminal in Long Island Sound, news reports indicate that The Atlantic Sea Island Group failed to inform officials in Long Beach about the project or the press conference.
