FERC’s Office of Energy Projects has issued letters to multiple U.S. military offices notifying them that FERC currently is reviewing LNG terminal proposals and seeking the military’s input as to potential impacts on active military infrastructure. FERC’s efforts appear to be a part of its mandate under EPACT 2005 to “obtain the concurrence of the Secretary of Defense before authorizing the siting, construction, expansion, or operation of [LNG facilities] affecting the training or activities of an active military installation.” Letters have been sent to military officials in the following proceedings: Gulf LNG Clean Energy, Casotte Landing LNG, Broadwater LNG, Calhoun LNG, Bradwood Landing LNG, Sabine Pass LNG, Crown Landing LNG, and Port Arthur LNG.
