In a press release issued yesterday, Freeport-McMoRan announced that it has resubmitted its application for the proposed offshore Main Pass Energy Hub LNG terminal to reflect changes in the project’s initial design. The New Orleans-based company decided to forego the use of open-rack vaporizers to regasify LNG and switch to closed-loop regasification technology following Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco’s veto in May. Details are in yesterday’s Platts Gas Daily [subscription required] and the company’s news release is carried via Business Wire [subscription required]. Freeport-McMoRan’s amended application may be found in the Docket Management System in USCG Docket No. 17696.
