The Dundalk Eagle reports that local legislation passed unanimously by the Baltimore County Council on Monday, would require LNG facilities proposed within five miles of a residential area to hold a special public hearing and obtain a permit from the County. The legislation is aimed at AES’ Sparrows Point terminal proposed for Maryland. Separately, U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) voiced opposition to the Sparrows Point project in a June 15 letter to FERC, saying that the terminal and its pipeline pose a threat to public safety.
