The Galveston Daily News reports that Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas on Monday was sworn in as city council representative on the Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves. A longshoremen’s union representative, Ted O’Rourke, urged the board to support BP’s Pelican Island LNG terminal, which he says will boost the local economy by bringing new jobs. A Galveston resident has attempted to halt the proposed terminalby filing a lawsuit against the Wharves Board. [Free registration necessary]
